If you live in England we assess your flood risk using data for your postcode from the Environment Agency, who model the flood likelihood from rivers and seas including the provision for flood defences. You can use the Environment Agency site to view more detailed information on your flood risk.

If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, we use proprietary flood ratings purchased from ambientalrisk.com who model the flood likelihood from rivers, seas and surface water events. The inclusion of surface water means that you may still be considered at risk of flooding from sudden rainstorm or burst water mains even if you live well away from rivers and the sea.

We currently calculate Flood Risk at postcode level but will be improving this to use even more granularity soon.

Remember that properties above the ground floor have a much lower flood risk (and therefore a much better Wrisk Score!) – so remember to accurately tell us about your property type.

Help us improve this rating

Wrisk isn’t like a normal insurance service – we are always learning and that includes improving the way we assess risk. If you think this Wrisk Factor should be rated differently – please tell us why.

If your feedback results in a rateable change that can be validated as truly predictive by our actuaries and data-scientists – we’ll reward you with an instant credit to your Wrisk balance and/or some Wrisk swag! :-)

Please remember that the validation process can take some time as we need to correlate stuff against historic claims information. Also – evidence with data beats opinions every time.
